Turn your scars into stars

There are a variety of ways to help reduce the appearance of acne scars and promote healthy skin. Various remedies are available over the counter, many of which can help people manage their acne and reduce the appearance of scars.

  1. Aloe Vera

Remove the dark green “skin” from the flatter side of an aloe vera leaf. Scoop out the almost clear light green gel. Apply the gel directly to your scar using circular motions. After half an hour, wash the gel off with fresh, cool water. Repeat twice each day and you will see the results.

2. Baking Soda

Baking soda may help reduce acne breakouts and manage pain and inflammation of the skin due to its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. If people choose to use baking soda to treat acne, it is best not to use it every day and to only use minimal amounts.

To do this, make a paste by mixing 2 teaspoons of baking soda with a little water. This paste can be directly applied to pimples or other acne lesions and left on for 20 minutes before thoroughly washing off.

Applying a moisturizer immediately afterwards will reduce the risk of the skin drying out.

Quarantined at home? Time to switch up your beauty routine!

Many people are self-isolating or quarantining because of the coronavirus, meaning they’re not going outside much at all.  And even if you’re just practicing social distancing, it’s likely you’re spending a lot less time outdoors.

Although they’re in the best interest of public health, all of these practices can lead to unintended skin damage if not cared for properly.

People are turning to skincare as they stay inside and self-isolate due to the coronavirus outbreak

As people all around the world shut themselves into their homes during the coronavirus outbreak, many are finding comfort in their skincare routines. Even I have noticed the rise of skincare in group texts and on Instagram stories. I asked one of my friends about her recent skincare obsession after she texted me about some recent expensive purchases. She told me that i am hopeful that I can make myself better in this time.

In this age of social distancing, many of us are being responsible and choosing to stay home. While this is a “forced staycation”, let’s look on the bright side and believe that it isn’t so bad, especially when it basically forces you to find things to do at home to keep you busy and help fill up your time. When you finally manage to do a beauty edit of your cosmetics, you may even discover a thing or two about your beauty habits that you never realised!

Here are some ways you can spend your precious hours at home as we patiently wait out this virus.

1. Expired Products ? Bin it.

One of the most satisfying things about spring cleaning is discovering an expired mascara or lipstick and telling yourself that it has served you well but it’s time to go – so you can make space for your new purchases! It may be your favourite mascara or lip colour but there’s nothing beautiful about getting an infected eye or lip.

2. Makeup tools do not self-disinfect

Your makeup tools from brushes to sponges are meant to be washed. Dermatologists recommend that you wash your makeup brushes once a week or at least twice a month.

They pick up products, dirt and sweat every time you use them so, if they remain unwashed for weeks and months, you will just be contaminating your freshly cleaned skin every time you use your makeup brushes.

3. Biggest Issue during this time is dryness

You’ve probably already been dealing with dry hands as a result of washing them more frequently, but that dryness could impact the skin on your face as well.

“Over-washing your hands can lead to disruption of the outer skin layer, with dryness and irritation”. Make sure to use a moisturizer on your hands regularly after washing.”If you have cotton gloves at home, you apply that moisturizer and put those cotton gloves over it. It’s really going to help.”

4. Using your devices more during this period might harm your skin.

We know that your devices emit blue light, also known as high energy visible (HEV) light. This type of light has been shown to have harmful effects on the skin, promoting premature aging and dark spots. Likewise, the physical act of looking down at your phone could hurt you as well.

“Bending your head down means folding up the skin on your neck, leading to early wrinkling,” he said. “This is commonly referred to as ‘tech neck.'” Make sure you’re taking breaks from looking at screens, and think consciously about how often you’re bending your neck.

5. Try your best not to touch your face

Touching your face with unwashed hands is one of the easiest ways to spread the coronavirus, but that’s not the only reason you should try to keep your fingers away from your face. This stressful environment may promote acne breakouts, but do your best not to pick your face.

Ever notice a brown spot on your skin that looks like a really big freckle? Get Rid of Age spots on your skin naturally!

“Mature skin is characterized by increased dryness, sun spots, fine lines, and laxity. It comes with age, but “it’s often related to sun exposure and smoking, too.” So yes, you can be a young person with “mature” skin.

Is there anything more annoying than dark age spots on your skin?

You may notice a growing number of small dark spots on your skin with each birthday that passes. Getting more and more of these age spots as you get older is a normal body reaction to sun exposure over time.

What Causes Them?

Age spots are caused by overactive pigment cells. Ultraviolet (UV) light speeds up the production of melanin, a natural pigment that gives skin its color. On skin that has had years of sun exposure, age spots appear when melanin becomes clumped or is produced in high concentrations. Use of commercial tanning lamps and beds also can cause age spots.

They most often start popping up at or around age 50, but younger people can also get age spots if they spend a lot of time in the sun. If you don’t like the appearance of your age spots, there are many things you can do to get rid of them.

Ways to treat Age Spots by natural means

Age spots are not dangerous. Still, you might not like them, especially if they show up on your face or hands. If age spots bother you, there are ways to make them less visible, or you can have them removed.

1. A Lemon Lift

Over time, lemon juice applied to the skin can help lighten age spots because of its gentle bleaching properties. If you have dark spots on your skin and you want them gone now, try this trick that works especially well on elbows. An easy way to get the benefits is to cut a few slices of lemon and place them directly on the spots for 10 minutes a day for about a month, or until you start seeing results.

2. Call Me Aloe

Apply pure aloe vera to your age spots. Aloe helps exfoliate skin and promotes the growth of new cells, which can help diminish the appearance of age spots. Apply aloe vera to your spots regularly to experience better results.

3. Yogurt and Parsley Blend

This mask will reduce the look of age spots and prevent new ones from forming! Mix together 2 tablespoons of sour cream or Greek yogurt with a teaspoon of chopped parsley. Once or twice a week, apply a thin layer to your face, or whichever area you’re concerned about. Rinse off after 15–20 minutes. Over time, you will start to see the spots fade. Yogurt and sour cream contain lactic acid that will lighten spots and parsley is packed with vitamin C, which nourishes the skin.

3 Homemade exfoliating scrubs for radiant skin!

Washing and cleansing your skin everyday doesn’t necessarily take out the dead skin cells from your skin. The homemade scrubs or face washes you use, might not be able to go deeper into your skin and cleanse it from within. For the sole purpose of deep cleansing your skin , exfoliating is considered to be one of the most important and top tasks for everyone. Exfoliating helps remove the dead skin cells and other remaining impurities from your skin. Moreover, it also helps to keep your complexion and skin healthy.

The beauty products today have so much stuff in them to exfoliate your skin. These products however, may contain plastics or parabens or other questionable ingredients that may harm your skin rather than making it healthier.

GOOD NEWS!

Instead of using manufactured products on your skin, you can make your own simple exfoliating face scrubs at home, really easily! They’re inexpensive and really good for your skin. Here are some ideas for DIY scrubs!

Many older people suffer from dry spots on their skin, often on their lower legs, elbows, and lower arms. Dry skin patches feel rough and scaly.

Some people are more prone than others to dry skin on the face. Gentle treatments and home remedies can relieve dry facial skin and prevent it from coming back.People may experience dry skin as a result of many factors, including changes in temperature or humidity, using soaps with harsh chemicals, and skin conditions, such as eczema.

What causes it?

The skin naturally produces an oil called sebum. When the skin produces too much oil, this can lead to pimples. However, having some sebum on the skin is important for keeping it hydrated and protecting the cells from infection.Skin that is not creating or replenishing enough sebum can become dry.

Dry skin can be itchy, and it may look flaky and bumpy or have red patches. Dehydrated skin lacks water and appears dull or rough. People can treat dry skin using several different methods. The best treatment option will depend on the cause of someone’s dry skin and its severity.
